Right Place. Right Tone.

What's that sound? Optimal organ acoustic effect!

Churches, auditoriums and theaters, concert halls, you name it, all have various dimensions of shapes, sounds; and other architectural elements that can improve or injure the sound of any pipe organ. When building an organ, its placement should be precisely determined.

A poorly placed pipe organ can impact its acoustics, no matter how well made the organ is. An organ of relatively less quality to the former can carry more impressive acoustics, if it is conscientiously placed in its venue.

Pipe organs are a great investment, so investors should get the payout they expect: a rich music ministry that brings a congregation/audience to its feet in awe. How can church leaders achieve optimal sound through location and placement of their soon-to-be organ, in its forever home.

An acoustical analysis of the space where the organ is to be housed can provide critical data to help with the placement decision of both a new or existing organ. Our team can perform this analysis and provide recommendations to help you achieve optimal acoustic  effect.

Seven fundamentals to enhance organ acoustics.

  1.  The organ must be placed in the same room as the one which it will be heard.
  2. As far as possible, the organ should face the congregation.
  3. For best placement, an organ should lie along the center axis of the nave.
  4. High ceilings and large cubic volume of the building contribute to the success of the organ.
  5. Wall, ceiling, and floor surfaces should be constructed with hard materials.
  6. Sound absorbent materials should be held to a minimum.
  7. The console should be as close to the pipe work as possible.
