Inside the Benedictine Church is the famous pipe organ of San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore. It was built in 1554. It is held in a wooden case. This case has been carved and painted on. When the doors open of the wooden case that is held in, be ready for your mouth to drop. It is absolutely stunning. The pipe organ located in Notre Dame was built in the 12th century. It has 5 keyboards. 190 ties and 8,000 pipes. It is the largest organ in France. This organ is also the most famous organ in the World because of the history Notre Dame holds within. Seeing this pipe organ first hand has changed my opinion on what an organ can do and what it can look like. I never would have imagined the beautiful architecture it adds to the church. It gives Notre Dame a very specific feel especially since it is located in the center of Paris. It brings many tourist to Paris each year as well as adding to the spiritual and artistic influence it gives to the city as a whole.
